Many people on the sex offender registry are guilty of nothing more than public urination.
The registry is completely useless shit.
The registry is completely useless shit.
Criminalizing the sex lives of young adults aged 14-18 has zero benefit and horrendous consequences.
and nobody dares advocate for them, because anyone who does is immediately branded a pedo. It's vile AF.
The number of homosexuals does not rise or fall depending on the severity of the persecution they face.
The number of drug users does not rise when you decriminalize drugs.
The number of people who pay for the services of sex workers does not rise when you legalize their jobs.
It is natural. It serves a very necessary purpose. Without risk-taking there is no learning through experience.
That's why we do it.
The young woman was 17 and she took the racy photos herself and consensually distributed them to some friends.
All indicators are that it was no big deal to her, to her friends, or even to her parents, who didn’t want a federal case made out of it. https://coloradosun.com/2022/08/11/brush-colorado-school-sexting-child-porn/
The young woman is not pissed off at the principal who made a copy of the pics and stored them on a secure school server.
It was not a big deal to her.
The GIANT PROBLEM here was caused only by the effort to “protect” her.
The principal is facing 12 years in prison, and life on the sex offender registry.
I have no idea why the young woman herself was not charged with distributing child porn. She was not 18 when those pics were taken.
We desperately need to lower the age of majority to 16. Read More »
I believe that there will always be an age of consent.
In healthy countries it will be set shortly after puberty, so age 14 or 15.
More prudish sex-phobic countries will have higher ages 16 or more. They will get worse results. Turning healthy people into sex offenders is dysfunctional.
Needlessly criminalizing harmless behavior is just wrong.
Quite simply it's easy to make 10 year olds stay celibate.
It's much harder after puberty when our bodies have adult sex hormones, and adult sex drives.
Policing young adults to make sure that they're only having sex with "age appropriate" people is not practical and it's completely useless.
Folks between 18 and old age don't have toxic genitals. Nor do they have any magic brainwashing power.
There is literally nothing harmful about 17 year olds having sex.
Why do we have to be so fucking cruel to people who fall in love?
Is our whole society a bunch of fucking sadists?
It's easy to see how a generation that was never allowed to walk around the neighborhood without anxious adults watching and assisting them might just be unprepared for the real world.

In New York and Illinois for example two consenting 16-year-olds having sex can both be prosecuted each for the rape of the other. And get put on the sex offender registry. Here's an Illinois lawyer explaining...
So I try to watch a video about a woman who broke an age of consent law. It's 6 minutes long. I hear lawyers, journalists, everybody's got an opinion. but the ONE AND ONLY opinion that matters is what the young man says about what happened.
I have zero patience with know-it-all pricks opining on it.
Unless the "news" is willing to present the clear complete verbatim unvarnished statement of the "vicitm" they should just STFU.
a 20-year-old can't be a stripper in Texas because she is "underage" but if you wanna drive a car in Texas at 16 you're not underage.
We ought to stop pretending the term "underage" actually means something.
The Neo-Puritans popularized the concept of hypersexuality in order to shame everyone who enjoys sex.
If you're doing your job and doing it well, why would the Irish Times think you quit?!?!
WTF is wrong with them?!?!
