Most cultures have no word for adolescent. Adding a new long painful period to our lives was a really dumb idea.
Places with high ages of consent like 17 or 18, usually have laws full of exceptions, and/or the law is rarely enforced
So in practice they're all having sex just like everywhere else, but sometimes an asshole sheriff, an angry father, or an ambitious politician (DA, prosecutor, or attorney-general) will destroy someones life over it.
There are over 450 million EU citizens living in countries where the age of consent is 14, 15, or 16. If there were any truth to the currently popular American hysteria about helpless teens getting abused by rampant predators, they'd have a huge problem. but they don't.
Why does our society demand that we stay asexual while developing sexually? Other cultures celebrate new womanhood. It's a joyous occasion. By deciding that everyone has to be a child until they're 20 we have created a slew of insane stupid and intractable problems.
The registry tells us nothing about sex crime.
Overall we've had good experience w 16 year olds having the right to quit school, work full time, drive cars, etc. That should be the age of majority.

Criminalizing people's sex lives is not something we should do just because some guy on Twitter thinks maybe somebody's heart could get broken.
Stupid right wing men are always telling us what to wear and how to behave and it's annoying as fuck. but the way to push back against that is *not* to deny the fact that breasts are secondary sexual characteristics. Nor is it a solution to accuse peeps of thought crimes.
Most women finish puberty around 14 years of age. Politicians writing laws ignore biological facts, so for several years after they become women, most women are underage women.
Teens are adults. It's basic science. Nothing happens in your body on your 18th birthday. There is no biological change there. Adulthood at 18 is an arbitrary legal thing somebody made up. It has nothing to do with human development.
