The fact is young adults (aka teens) have been consenting to sex for all of human history. It was never a problem. Suddenly in the last 20 years we've seen the birth of a fierce new taboo, claiming that normal human sexual behavior is actually a kind of deviant rape.
Kids of all ages are going to talk about sex whether we like it or not. We can help them by being honest and open and giving them true information. Or we can pretend that they're not actually learning lots of (true? false? dangerous? who knows?) info about sex behind our backs.
The age of consent doesn't say who should or shouldn't have sex. It says who gets incarcerated for having sex.
Puberty exists to prepare the organism for adult life. It would make absolutely no sense for nature to get the body ready to attract a mate and reproduce, but leave the brain out "Oh, we'll let them have undeveloped thinking organs for another 10 years"

14 year olds decide to have sex all the time whether we like it or not. It is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to honestly teach them everything they need to know to avoid unplanned pregnancy AND provide the necessary contraceptives. This is a solvable problem. Let's solve it today.
